Review: Did Kick-Ass really kick ass?

Posted by Sleepy Sloth On April - 21st - 2010

Well i just saw the movie earlier today and thought I'd post my 2 cents about the movie. This will be a review of some sort. The first one on this blog. I'll try to keep it short. I definitely think Kick-Ass is worth watching. Not a must-watch but definitely worth it. My verdict about it being worthwhile had NOTHING to do with the movie whatsoever and heres why...

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse - Exclusive clips, Trailer and HQ Poster

As much as it sickens me to post about "IT", it was pretty inevitable, since it was a movie and a money spinning cash-cow for that matter...

A couple of hours after posting about the AC/DC collaboration with Iron Man 2 article, some new Iron Man 2 movie posters were released. I decided since the last post was related, I'd post these immediately :)

Transformers 3: New Autobot revealed!+Casting details+Location details

Posted by Kieran K On March - 23rd - 2010

This is probably the first time we've heard anything about Transformers 3 and the news comes straight from the horse's mouth that is Michael Bay, the director. Since this kind of news doesn't get any more legit than this, I'm just going to copy and paste whatever he said...

This Just In: Rabid Twilight Fans Have A Problem

Posted by The Sleepy Sloth On Wednesday, June 30, 2010 0 comments
Hmmm two weeks since I last posted. Well I have a legit excuse! I was 'away' for a whole week without internet connection. June 30th. It's finally here to haunt us all. The day I decide to post something new and all I find plastered across the internet involves Twilight. *sigh* Even Rotten Tomatoes has TWO featured posts about this darn thing. What so great about it anyway? I watched the trailer and their vamps looked like zombies to me. The zombies from Zombieland looked more frightening. Well, I came across an article from a fellow sane person who is tired of all this bullcrap and I thought I'd share it here.

All credit for the following article goes to Eric Eisenberg from Cinema Blend:

This Just In: Rabid Twilight Fans Have A Problem

I don't know if you've noticed this at all, but some Twihards out there are totally fucking nuts. It takes a certain mentality to be abusive enough to drive an actress off of Twitter, use their dead pets to receive sympathy from an actor, and construct cloth versions of a human-vampire fetus. Any normal person should notice that this behavior isn't normal, and, after two years, someone finally has.

Nancy Baym, an associate professor at the University of Kansas, is now saying that some people's levels of fandom have reached the point of addiction. "A lot of fans engage in obsessive behavior, but to the extent that it's damaging to their offline relationships, that's pretty uncommon," she says. But take for example Kelli Chavez of Sylmar, California. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times she mentions that she "read each of the books at least eight or nine times and I've watched each of the movies over 300 times apiece," and that her inability to control herself has led to resentment from her 6-year-old son. News flash: when kindergartners are picking up signals of a problem before a 39-year-old woman does, there is a big fucking problem.

Since the release of the first film, the internet has watched as women young and old have become obsessive over the likes of Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and the writing of Stephanie Meyer. But here is a question that nobody seems to be asking: what the hell is so special about this material? There are billions of books better than those in the Twilight series. Writers like Ernest Hemmingway, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Leo Tolstoy and William Shakespeare make Meyer's books look like they were written in crayon (then again, so does the work of Dr. Seuss). Comparing the film series to examples such as Casablanca, Citizen Kane, The Godfather and Gone With The Wind would cause any professor of film to fall into hysterics. It can't just be that the actors are attractive and it can't be that their characters represent perfection, as both have been seen before and in multiple mediums. There are millions of Star Wars fans out there, but have you ever heard of any of them taking part in cyber-bullying because someone disagrees with their opinion? Hell, check the comments section of this article in half-an-hour and I bet at least one Twilight fan will be in the comments section calling me an idiot or calling for my head like I'm John The Baptist. There is something so completely off and wrong here, but can anyone explain why?

You can find the original article here

I was wondering the same thing too. What so great about this damn movie? Its defo one of the worst out there. Oh and in case you were wondering who the actress that got cyber bullied out of twitter, it was the super cute Emma Roberts, niece of Julia Roberts.

For a minute there I thought she was sane since she 'thrashed' Twilight, but after more digging I was disappointed to find out that she merely said she preferred the boy dog 'Team Jacob' over the sparkly but dead shemale 'Team Edward'

Trailer Thursday

Posted by The Sleepy Sloth On Thursday, June 17, 2010 0 comments
It's been a while(Again). Been busy with stuff and the World Cup but It's about time I actually put up some new stuff here. Always nice to start by sharing some new trailers again. Everybody loves those :D I have 4 trailers and a teaser trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Enjoy =)

Trailer #1 - Middle Men
Cast: Luke Wilson, James Caan, Giovanni Ribisi, Gabriel Macht, Peter Stormare, Rachael Taylor
Release date: August 6th, 2010

Hmmm..when I heard the music and saw the first few seconds of this trailer, I thought it'd be alot like Ocean's Eleven where there was a lot of scheming involved and the audience needed to pay attention to keep track. Yes! My favourite kind of movie. Unfortunately it isn't. It's actually more of a comedy but still involves some scheming. Apparently its based on a true story (don't know how accurate that is). Whatever it is, it looks.....'interesting' I guess.

Trailer #2 - Takers
Cast: Idris Elba, Matt Dillon, Paul Walker, Hayden Christensen, Chris Brown, Michael Ealy, Tip "T.I." Harris, Jay Hernandez, Zoe Saldana
Release date: August 20th, 2010

A popcorn action movie with a huge cast no doubt but with The Expendables coming out a week earlier on August 13th, it seems very unlikely that this movie will manage to pull in any money at all. In case you didn't know, The Expendables is also a popcorn action movie with a huge cast that features the likes of Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke and Dolph Lundgren. Takers also looks alot like The Losers which came out in February and also starred both Idris Elba and Zoe Saldana. With that being said, I guess Takers will be relying heavily on Zoe Saldana to sell those tickets. Check out "The Expendables" trailer HERE

Trailer #3 - The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader
Cast: Ben Barnes, Georgie Henley, William Moseley, Will Poulter, Anna Popplewell, Skandar Keynes, Liam Neeson(voice).
Release date: December 10th, 2010.

Isn't everybody tired of the Narnia movies yet? It should still be popular though because of the 3D factor. I probably won't watch this one in the cinemas at all. Your probably better off waiting until December 17th and watching Tron: Legacy in 3D. That movie was built for 3D! Unlike all these other movies bar Avatar, it didn't convert to 3D at the last minute.

Trailer #4 - Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole
Voice Cast: Ryan Kwanten, Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess, Geoffrey Rush, Rachael Taylor, David Wenhem, Sam Neill
Release date: September 24th, 2010.

WOW. The animation in this one looks simply A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. It blows the Narnia trailer out of the water. Owls never looked so cool. I definitely can't wait to watch this.

Teaser Trailer - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I
Cast: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Helena Bonham Carter, Brendan Gleeson, Timothy Spall
Release Date: November 19th, 2010

A sneak peek that aired during the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, which I missed unfortunately =( Nothing much to say about this movie. After 7 books and 6 movies, I'm pretty sure everyone knows what its about. It looks good but every time I see one of these Harry Potter movies, I swear the sight of Lord Voldermort gets funnier every single time. I wonder why? How short is Daniel Radcliffe anyway? Just noticed Ginny was much taller than him after watching this teaser.
